Workshop: 10 - 12 May 2012 - House in Clil
An intro to Perspectives and Techniques in Trauma
therapy
based in the Mind - Body Paradigm
Besel van der Kolk, Peter Levine, and Pat Ogden, from the pioneers in trauma therapy and research, both emphasis that Trauma is not the event, but in the holistic perception of it within the mind-body organism - "The Horror beyond Words". The Body is the Portal, and Mindfulness based techniques are the Vehicles to gentle heightened awareness, tracking and untangling what is
Implicit and in a bind.
...one of the most exciting scientific discoveries the last twenty years is: How we focus our attention shapes the structure of the brain!...and- that we can grow these new connections throughout our lives,
not just in childhood. (D. Siegel)

Hi LeaMikhaela
Not all trauma needs a psychiatrist, nor does all trauma need medical or psychotherapeutic intervention. Only 33% of the trauma victims need help, and then 90% of them could use advanced research based body-mind techniques to heal and find resilience. One does need to find a good therapist, and one that has had some specific training in this issue.
Kindly
juditta
